Frequently asked questions
You've questions? I've the answers! Here are the most frequently asked questions I get, take a minute to read through them and don't hesitate to reach out with any more!
Where are you based?
I am based in Pretoria, Gauteng, SA.
What is the most important thing on the wedding day for you as photographer?
Your wedding is one of the most important and special days of your life and it’s going to go by faster than you think! Therefore, it is vital that you feel comfortable with me, your photographer. I would like you to relax and enjoy every moment and
know that I’ll be capturing your day for you to remeber forever. I have a very
natural approach and I don’t like to be in the limelight. It’s your day and I want
you to feel like a princess/ queen/ diva whichever you prefer.
Do you shoot destination weddings?
Absolutely, for destination weddings please contact me with the specifics about your wedding and I will happily send you a custom quote.
We really want to spend as much time as possible with our guests and don’t want hours of photos. Is this possible?
To many couples miss out on the really special moments at their wedding when they spend hours on the taking of their photos. I recommend that my couples plan their day in such a way that they allow 30min- 1 hour to spend with their guest before they slip away for photos and that we keep the couple shoot short and sweet.
How many images do you include?
Each one of my collections varies in how many images are delivered, but I promise I 'll always include plenty of images of everything I capture. I don't really like give a cutoff number because I don't believe in withholding any images. These are your memories, I promise to capture them fully and give you more than enough images to remember this time in you lives.
Do you give RAW unedited images?
NEVER, as I believe that editing is half the magic that goes into images and without this huge step the images are only halfway done. I promise to never leave any photos out that you'll want/need, and if you feel I missed delivering a photo, just ask! I'm more than happy to check back through my images and send it over to you ( I make mistakes, no lie!) I won't let you miss out on your memories!
Can you photoshop us?
I truly believe in promoting self love and body positivity, so I don't alter the way you look other than skin blemishes or anything temporary that would not normally be there (bruises, scrape, acne etc unless you'd like me to keep it in the photo). If you're self conscious about something, please let me know as I'll be sure to be extra aware of that while I'm posing you.
What is the best time of the day for photos?
The best light of the day is at sunrise and sunset. I prefer to use the last 60minutes before sunset for the couple shoot.
Does your husband always shoot with you?
For Weddings| Yes he does! We are actually a husband and wife team. My husband Peet will be there helping me and you and sometimes be the second shooter. As I want to give you all my attention and make sure I capture everything he will make sure everything is running smooth and I don't forget stuff behind make sure my batteries are charge, memory cards are fine. He will carry and hold the veil and flowers give me a pick up if I need to shoot from a certain angel. You name it , he has done it! We also love working together and celebrate you! If he's not with me I will defiantly have a assistance helping me out!
Do you take group shots of the people at their tables?
On request I will do this for you, but I do however take candid shots
of people listening to speeches, laughing and enjoying the evening.
Natual photos are what I specialise in and love.
What is your turnaround?
The turnaround depends on how much shoots, how busy I am, travel schedule, and the holidays, Typically for sessions it takes 3-4 weeks or less. Weddings takes 5-9 weeks or less. I try to get them back to you as soon as possible while making sure I give time to each and every image needs.
How do payment schedules work?
I require 50% non-refundable deposit to secure your spot/ date on my calandar, and the remaining 50% is due 3 weeks in advance for weddings, 1 week in advance for shoots. You can spilt these payments (3 payments) if you'd like to help make it more affordable. I'm happy to work with your schedule!
Do you use extra lighting equipment?
I love working with natural light, however where necessary I do use a flash.
What if we need to cancel/ reschedule our shoot/ wedding?
If you've already put a deposit down on a date then have to move/ cancel it, the deposit is legally non-refundable and a new deposit will have to be made in order to hold your new date. But we can always communicate about this as all depending the time frame. If an act of God happen and you have to move your wedding due to law, we will just set a new date don't worry about that.
What happens if you can't make it to our wedding?
Heaven forbid this happens, as it would only happen if it were out of my control (act of God, illness, death etc) but in this case I would do my best to help find a replacement photographer to take my place that I trust with and have similar style.
What if there's bad weather?
I always encourage embracing whatever weather comes our way, as it's beautiful and unique in photos. If it's harsh enough that it would make for a horrible time at our session and we can reschedule(or ruin my gear), then we totally will!
Do you help in the planning process?
Absolutely! I've shots wedding and I am married myself so I know the industry pretty dang well! Let me know what you need help with, if you need recommendations, and if there's anything I can do to make the process easier for you!
How does covering travel expenses work?
With traveling I have you pay for the bare minimum, flight, transportation and stay. If your venue does not fall in my ratio then as AA rate state its R3 per kilometre, but all my weddings have a ratio of 120km
